River State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has paid Staff of the various local government councils, through the Local Government Service Commission commission, as well their principal officers without the input of the local government Chairmen.
The Governor also paid three months salaries to some worker of Emohua Local Government that were unconstitutionally sacked by Hon Chidi Lloyd, the outgoing Chairman of the Emohua LG without the ratification of the Local Government Service commission a body responsible for such exercise, while also promising to cover the remaining months they were deliberately and deprived of their salaries.
The actions of Governor Sim has shown that, he has fully assumed office as the Executive Governor of Rivers State and is relishing on the powers of his office that he is effortlessly channeling to the welfare of Rivers people and not an infinitesimal or miniscule political class.
Osun Spring reports that the people of Rivers people are waiting to peacefully escort the present set of serving Local Government Chairmen out of office on the 17th of June 2023 which is the expiration of their constitutional 3 years of 1 term.
It was learnt that the LG Chairs were seeking an extension of office by 6 months from the unrecognized members of Rivers Assembly.
As the crisis between former Governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara continues, some of the Chairmen were reported to have challenged Governor Fubara disrespectfully while some openly trampled on the rights of those who were brave enough to declare support for the Governor.
It was learnt that some Chairmen also seized salaries of political appointees and elected councillors under them because of their support for Governor Fubara, which eventually gave room to state wild call for Governor Fubara to rise and act in defence of his supporters.
