The Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission member paid a thank you visit to the Honourable Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun over the role played in the payment of severance package to members of the 6th and the 7th Assembly.
The members who were led by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Abiodun Awolola, commended the kind-hearted Governor, His Excellency Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for coming to their rescue, saying the gesture is a further demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
He also applauded the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun for facilitating such a gesture for them, saying his relentless push made the severance payment possible.
In his words, “On behalf of all members of the 6th and 7th Osun Assembly, we have come to appreciate you. We commend the kind heart of Governor Adeleke and we shall continue to pray for him. We appreciate you Mr. Speaker because if you do not approve the payment, it would not have been done.
“And I must also say that the news and feedback we are getting from this Assembly about your coordination, leadership and commitment to the welfare of the Assembly Staff are good and commendable. We didn’t know you could learn this fast. You have defeated the argument that says a first-timer can’t do it.”
He added, “We are praying for you at the commission and by God’s Grace you will end well”.
Hon. Awolola also used the opportunity to appeal to the Honourable Speaker to extend his hands of kindness to the commission and the commission Board members. He highlighted their request before the Speaker.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun appreciated them for deeming it fit to come and acknowledge his intervention on the payment of severance package to the 6th and 7th Assembly.
He said they should appreciate the Governor because if he had not approved the payment there is nothing he could do.
He added that “whatever we might have done so far is by the help of God, support of my people despite the little resources we have”, promising them that he would attend to their requests in order of priority as they requested by God’s Grace.
Mr Speaker also assured them of his continuous support and collaboration with the commission.
