Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie as the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
The appointment, announced earlier today, in a statement by Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, takes immediate effect.
The followed the recommendation of three names submitted by the Governing Council of the institution.
Professor Omonzejie, a scholar of French and Francophone African Literatures, has spent her career in the Department of Modern Languages at AAU.
She is a prolific researcher with works spanning African and Francophone literary studies, gender and cultural studies.
She has served as President of the AAU chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), where she championed mentoring and advocacy for female academics and students.
She has also co-edited landmark publications such as French Language in Nigeria: Essays in Honour of UFTAN Pacesetters and Language Matters in Contemporary West Africa.
Governor Okpebholo said the appointment was a recognition of her “academic excellence, administrative experience and commitment to the growth and development of Ambrose Alli University.”
