The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the completion of admission processes into public universities from October 31 to November 17, 2025.
The decision, announced in a statement on Sunday by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, followed appeals from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) and other key stakeholders in the tertiary education sector.
Benjamin explained that the extension became necessary due to two major factors — a court order that temporarily halted the 2025/2026 admission list and the recent accreditation of 229 new academic programmes across 37 universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on October 29.
“In light of these developments, and to ensure fairness and inclusiveness, the Board hereby extends the deadline for the completion of 2025 public university admissions to Monday, November 17, 2025,” the statement read.
JAMB recalled that at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Board had fixed October 31 as the original deadline for public universities to conclude admissions.
The examination body stressed that the new deadline would be the final one and urged all institutions to comply fully, while commending their continued cooperation in streamlining the admission process.
JAMB also reminded universities of its earlier directive, issued on September 18, 2025, extending the deadline for submission of Post-UTME screening results of underage candidates to October 30.
Benjamin added that reminders had been sent to defaulting institutions, assuring that JAMB remains committed to ensuring transparency and orderliness in the national admission process.
