In a landmark judgment delivered on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has given the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the green light to proceed with its much-anticipated Elective National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
The ruling, delivered by Hon. Justice A. L. Akintola in Suit No. I/1336/2025 filed by Folahan Malamo Adelabi, an aspirant for the position of Deputy National Organizing Secretary, restrained the party and its agents from truncating, frustrating, or interfering with the already published guidelines, timetable, and schedule of activities for the national convention.
Justice Akintola also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deploy monitors and observers to the convention to ensure transparency and compliance with the Electoral Act.
The court further instructed Rt. Hon. Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri, Chairman of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), to proceed with all necessary preparations for the exercise.
