Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally taken up membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This marks his first major political move ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku confirmed the development on Monday in a brief post on his X handle, where he shared a photograph of himself holding his new ADC membership card and wrote, “It’s official.”
The opposition leader’s decision comes months after he publicly announced his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in July, following years of unresolved internal disputes and factional clashes within the party.
