The Osun State chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has announced the suspension of its Deputy Chairman, Mr. Femi Adesuyi.

This disclosure was made in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of Osun IPAC, Wale Adebayo and Tosin Odeyemi, on Saturday, November 11.

Adesuyi, who is also the chairman of the Zenith Labour Party in the state, was suspended over the alleged diversion of palliatives provided by the state government to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The Council alleged that Adesuyi was given 50 bags of rice by the state government as palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal, but only delivered 35 bags and retained the remaining 15 bags. The ZLP chairman had earlier represented IPAC on the committee established by the Osun State Government to distribute food items provided to the state as palliatives by the Federal Government.

This alleged diversion prompted the council to establish a committee headed by the Accord Party, Victor Akande, to investigate the matter.

The statement read, “It was unanimously agreed among the members present during our last meeting that Femi Adesuyi should be suspended for six months.

“This decision aims to uphold the principles of accountability and transparency within our noble council, ensuring that no member is above the laws and regulations set forth by IPAC.

“In light of this resolution, we will be writing to IPAC national body, providing them with a comprehensive explanation regarding the suspension of Femi Adesuyi.”

IPAC also revealed that it will notify the national secretariat of his political party, Zenith Labour Party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC).

Adesuyi has however dismissed the suspension. He added that the allegation is false and unfounded.

His statement partly read, “I would like to state that the allegation is false and unfounded. Let me state that the 50 bags of rice given were meant for Imole Collaborators and IPAC. 15 bags were given to Imole Collaborators, while 35 were given to IPAC. There is nothing like diversion as claimed in their release.

“However, nobody has ever written or summoned me for any discussion. And no one has suspended me from IPAC. The process for suspension is clearly stated in the IPAC code of conduct.”
