As Nigeria celebrates 63rd Independence Anniversary October 1st, Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun states that citizenry must mend the broken walls and reaffirm resolve to stick together for national integration.
The Speaker added that, for Nigeria as a country can immensely progress, the people of the country must have a positive attitude, right perception and rethink. He enjoined all and sundry to rather see series of events that seem to cause divisions as a leverage to “reflect and review our approach to diverse national issues.”
Egbedun in a statement he personally signed on Sunday, said that “Nigeria’s journey since independence in 1960 has been eventful in many respects. We may have come this far as one united country, but the plethora of threats to our continued existence give us reasons to reflect and review our approach to diverse national issues.
“Public servants must begin to rethink our approach to service to the people. Citizens of our dear nation must begin to rethink our contributions to the continued existence of this entity. If we must grow, while remaining indivisible, we must rebuild the broken walls and reaffirm our resolve to stick together in Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress.
“May we all be strengthened to play patriotic roles in building a country that we will be proud to bequeath to our generations unborn.
“Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!”
