“You Lack Tangible Achievements Despite Over Two Decades At National Assembly” – Ogungbangbe Fires Back at Wole Oke

Osun State Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Bayo Ogungbangbe, has broken his silence following a recent publication by former House of Representatives member, Hon. Wole Oke, which he described as “painful and shameful.”

He said although he initially intended to ignore the comments, he felt compelled to respond to set the record straight for posterity

In a personal statement made available to the press on Wednesday, Ogungbangbe accused Wole Oke of attempting to ridicule his humble rise through the ranks of politics, noting that his success has always been a product of hard work, divine grace, and consistent service to the people.

“I have read the painful and shameful publication Wole Oke made about me. But God cannot be mocked. It is in His wisdom that He made Wole Oke who he is today, and may God continue to bless him,” Ogungbangbe wrote.

“Where was Wole Oke when I, Ogungbangbe, was Vice Chairman of Oriade Local Government back in 1997/98? Life is about process and progress,” he stated.

The Commissioner also addressed Oke’s remarks about a petrol station allegedly linked to him, disclosing that he personally leased the station at a time when Wole Oke “had nothing” and even took petrol “on credit” from the same facility.

Ogungbangbe further accused the former PDP chieftain, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), of abandoning his legislative duties to pursue private investments, particularly the establishment of Lead British Schools across several cities.

“Wole Oke claimed he loves the people of Oriade and Obokun. Is it love that made him abandon his constituents to build Lead British Schools in Abuja, Ibadan, Osogbo and elsewhere while he was still in politics?” he queried.

He added, “Those billions could have changed lives here.”

He challenged Oke’s claim to political dominance in Ijesa North, warning that no single individual can sit perpetually on the mandate meant for two local governments.

Ogungbangbe went further to highlight what he called Oke’s lack of tangible achievements despite over two decades at the National Assembly.

“After over 20 years in the National Assembly, Wole Oke still has nothing to show for it,” he said, drawing comparisons with other legislators like Hon. Bamidele Salam and Hon. Olohunwa, whom he praised for their impactful service within a shorter time frame.

He also referenced a past investigation by Premium Times that reportedly linked Wole Oke to alleged extortion from government agencies, calling it another stain on the former lawmaker’s record.
