The Federal Government has disclosed that it would collaborate with relevant stakeholders to tackle the rising immoral sign-out tradition among students across the country.

This was disclosed by the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Issa Lanre-Onilu while speaking with newsmen at NOA office in Osogbo, Osun State capital at the weekend.

Represented by the Director,Human Resources of the Agency, Mrs Ayisola Olowoyo, Lanre-Onilu, condemned the excessive ceremonies, which often involve students writing on each other’s bodies, wearing revealing white clothings and engaging in costly gift-giving, directly contradicting the core principles  the nation seeks to uphold.

“The Federal Government is concerned with the growing trend of immorality among students across the country. Celebrating success is good but for young people to start immorality exposing and touching private parts within educational institutions against national values”,he stated.

As the central strategy to combat this immorality, the FG is set to lauch a National Values Charter. Mr Onilu  explained that the charter will be built on the pillar of “discipline among our people, duty of care, honesty and integrity”.

“One of the reasons the Federal Government would be launching national charter is to instill discipline and values in our daily lives across all sectors”, he added.

Also speaking, the Osun State Director, NOA, Mr Adebiyi Stephen, said in a bid to mitigate the incident of flood, the agency has been collaborating with the State Government to enlighten resident living around flood-prone areas on steps to take to avoid loss of lives and properties.
