Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has charged security agencies in the state to remain neutral and professional as the political atmosphere heightens, warning that Osun, being the home state of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must not be turned into a political battlefield.
The Governor gave the charge at the Government House, Osogbo, during the decoration ceremony of his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahmed Bio Abdulraman.
The event was attended by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo; the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega; and other service chiefs.
Commending the Nigeria Police Force for its professionalism, Adeleke praised the Inspector General of Police and the Osun Command for their discipline and adherence to due process.
He particularly lauded Commissioner Gotan’s leadership style, which he said has fostered peace and order in the state.
The Governor noted that security agencies in Osun have maintained strong synergy but urged them to remain apolitical in their duties.
“We should continue to maintain a level playing field. This is the home state of Mr. President. Mr. President belongs to all of us. Osun should not be turned into a battleground,” Adeleke said.
Turning to the celebrant, the Governor described his ADC, DSP Abdulraman, as an exemplary officer whose promotion was well deserved.
“I am happy today over the promotion of my ADC. He is a good representative of the police,” Adeleke said.
He added that the Nigeria Police remains a vital institution in Nigeria’s growth and stability.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices of security operatives across the country, stressing that the police is a “blessed organisation” deserving of appreciation from both government and citizens.
In his goodwill message, Commissioner Gotan congratulated DSP Abdulraman, reminding him that promotion comes with greater responsibilities.
He urged the officer to remain disciplined, professional, and committed to the ideals of policing.
Gotan assured that the Osun Command would continue to uphold fairness, human rights, and the rule of law, while sustaining peace and order in the state.
He also credited government support for the effectiveness of their operations, urging other officers to emulate Abdulraman’s dedication and hard work.
