The Osun State Government on Saturday took another bold step in its quest to empower young people with future-ready skills, as it flagged off the Training of Trainers (ToT) session for the Techify Osun initiative at the Oroki Innovation Hub, Osogbo.
The programme, organised through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, brought together selected youth leaders and facilitators drawn from across the state.
Participants were equipped with skills in digital literacy, basic coding, and problem-solving—preparing them to serve as front-line trainers who will, in turn, cascade knowledge to thousands of youths in their communities.
Declaring the training open on behalf of the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Moshood Olagunju, the Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation, Hon. Segun Oyewale, reaffirmed the commitment of the Adeleke-led administration to equipping young people with sustainable skills that enhance employability and innovation.
“The government of Governor Ademola Adeleke is intentional about youth empowerment,” Oyewale said. “We are creating platforms that ensure Osun youths are not just job seekers but also innovators and problem solvers.”
In his remarks, the Youth and Strategic Engagement Aide to the Governor, Babawale Jamiu Popoola, who is championing the initiative, described Techify Osun as “a game-changer that aligns with Governor Adeleke’s vision for a digitally inclusive Osun where no young person is left behind.”
Other dignitaries present included Hon. Ajala Adetunji, Senior Special Assistant on Rural Development and Community Affairs, and Adeoti Lukman, Lead of the Oroki Innovation Hub, both of whom hailed the project as a timely intervention that would boost grassroots innovation and development.
The Techify Osun initiative has been identified as a key driver of youth engagement and empowerment under the Adeleke administration.
It seeks to expand access to technology, foster innovation, and unlock job-creating opportunities across all local governments in the state.
The Osun government reiterated its resolve to continue rolling out policies and programmes that prepare young people for global competitiveness while encouraging them to build solutions to local challenges.
