UNIOSUN graduates 2851 students at 15th Convocation

Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has awarded a total of 2,851 degrees which included 2505 Bachelor’s degree, 1 Postgraduate Diploma, 283 Masters Degree and 62 PhDs during its 15th Convocation ceremonies.

The announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, during convocation ceremony held university’s main campus in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

The Vice Chancellor revealed that 49 bachelor’s degree students graduated with First Class Honours, 988 with Second Class Upper Division, 1,279 with Second Class Lower Division, 178 with Third Class and 1 with a Pass.

He added that the convocation is not only celebrate academic achievements but also mark the commissioning of seven key infrastructural projects, demonstrating the university’s ongoing transformation.

Some of the major projects to be commissioned include:the iconic Senate Building, funded by TETFund’s High Impact Intervention, the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology Building and
aTwin 500-seat Lecture Theatre Complex

Also three additional 500-capacity lecture theatres at the Osogbo, Okuku, and Ifetedo campuses, and a new entrepreneurship equipment for student innovation and training.

He added that the university is now , 90% digital compliant adding that the university program have increased from 65 to 128.

“By the grace of God, not by any wisdom or strength of man, we have converted this University to almost 90% digitally-compliant University through our robust online lecture delivery system and e-processing of almost all our businesses as a University.

“Significantly, when I was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor, this University was running 65 Bachelor academic degree programmes but to the glory of Almighty God, the University runs 128 academic programmes today.

“When I came in as your Vice-Chancellor, the student population was about 12,400 but today, we have grown in strength and knowledge to 34,000 students. We have increased the number of Faculties in the University from 9 to 14 in the recent 4 years.

“The number and quality of buildings that have been commissioned today serve as a measure of our infrastructural growth across all our campuses. The number of national and international grants that we have won are indicators of our success as a University. Our graduates are everywhere in our world shaking the tables to positively impact our world”, he noted.
