The traditional council in Ijesaland has approved the removal of High Chief Bola Orolugbabe, the Odole of Ilesa, over alleged misconduct and abuse of power.

The decision was announced in a post on Tuesday by Isaac Haastrup, the media aide to the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr.) Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, on his official Facebook page.

The post, which was captioned “Breaking News!”, read: “Owa’s Panel grants the prayer of the Odole family for the removal of the Odole of Ilesa, High Chief Bola Orolugbabe, over alleged misconduct and abuse of power. Details later.”

Though the full details of the allegations are yet to be made public, palace sources hinted that the decision followed a formal petition by members of the Odole family.

The Owa’s panel, it was gathered, deliberated extensively on the petition before granting the family’s request for Orolugbabe’s removal.

As of press time, neither the palace nor the affected chief had issued an official statement regarding the development.

The Odole title is one of the most prestigious chieftaincy positions in Ijesaland, traditionally reserved for individuals entrusted with significant responsibilities within the royal hierarchy.
