The administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has taken another major step toward industrial development in Osun State as it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ajegunle Tradesmen and Artisans Association on Monday in Osogbo.
The agreement grants the association access to 7.3 hectares of land within the Living Spring Free Trade Zone for the establishment of the Ajegunle International Automobile Spare Parts Village.
This is a project expected to serve not only Osun State but the entire country and Africa at large.
Speaking after the signing, the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Dr. Bunmi Jenyo, who represented the state government, described the initiative as part of Governor Adeleke’s broader plan to create a vibrant commercial environment, boost employment, and attract industrial investments to Osun.
“Governor Adeleke’s administration is committed to building a business-friendly state where trade and industry can thrive. This partnership reflects our focus on industrial growth, job creation, and human capital development,” Rev. Jenyo said.
The Ajegunle International Automobile Village, according to the association’s trustees, will feature specialized training centres, hospitality facilities, and space for future vehicle assembly plants.
The project is also designed to empower local artisans, promote skill acquisition, and stimulate economic activity across Osun.
The Chairman of the Ajegunle Tradesmen and Artisans Association, Alhaji Kamorudeen Adesina, who led other trustees to the signing ceremony, expressed gratitude to Governor Adeleke for fulfilling what he described as a long-held dream.
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency for making this vision a reality. This project will transform the economic landscape of Osun and provide countless opportunities for our people,” Alhaji Adesina said.
He also offered prayers for the continued success of the state government.
The trustees who witnessed the MoU signing included Adebisi Rasheed Aderemi, Adeboye Jimoh Alade, Nafiu Tijani Abimbola, Popoola Rafiu Adekunle, Ibrahim Rasaq Bamidele, Owaboye Suraj Oki, and Owaboye Karim Moshood.
Also present were the acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Rafiu Oyelowo, and other senior officials of the ministry.
The new partnership signals the state government’s readiness to continue supporting private sector-driven projects aimed at advancing economic growth, industrialization, and sustainable development in Osun State.
