Why We Suspended Operatives — Amotekun

0 0

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has explained the reasons behind the suspension of three of its operatives over alleged misconduct and breach of official ethics.

The affected officers were accused of making false and unverified statements against the Corps on social media, in violation of the agency’s operational code.

The affected officers are Taiwo Abu, Victor Akinsipe, and Julius Akinjumi.

Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, who made the disclosure while briefing journalists in Akure, said the operatives acted contrary to the oath of secrecy they swore to upon joining the security outfit.

According to Adeleye, the officers’ online remarks were “sponsored attempts” to divert public attention and distract the Corps from fulfilling its statutory duty of safeguarding lives and property across the state.

“Every organisation operates under defined rules and regulations, and Amotekun is no exception. The law establishing this agency clearly provides guidelines for discipline and conduct of operatives. Those who go against such standards must face the consequences,” he stated.

The Corps Commander described the social media claims by the suspended personnel as “completely false and misleading,” adding that disciplinary measures have been implemented to maintain professionalism and order within the system.

He assured residents that the Amotekun Corps remains committed to its mission of ensuring safety and security throughout Ondo State, stressing that the agency would not be distracted by internal or external controversies.
