Human rights activist and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the reported threat by former U.S. President Donald J. Trump to launch military action in Nigeria under the pretext of protecting Christians.
In a statement posted on his social media handle on Sunday, Sowore described Trump’s comment as reckless and dangerous.
He also warned Nigerians against celebrating or supporting any form of foreign military intervention in the country.
According to him, the history of U.S. involvement in other nations has shown that such actions often leave countries more unstable and divided than before.
He cited the examples of Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria, where American interventions failed to bring lasting peace or democracy.
Sowore maintained that Nigeria’s challenges cannot be solved through external interference but through genuine and accountable leadership from within.
“Whether you are Christian, Muslim, or non-religious, no one should rejoice over such threats. Our deliverance will not come from abroad but from within, through true leadership and national renewal—not from the likes of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he wrote.
The activist, who has consistently called for political reform and good governance, stressed that what Nigeria needs is not a “foreign savior” but leaders committed to justice, equity, and the protection of all citizens.
