The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to issue a 90-day ultimatum to the nation’s service chiefs to decisively defeat terrorists or step aside.
Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City on Friday, Adeboye said the government must act swiftly, wisely, and diplomatically in tackling the growing security and religious tensions in the country.
The revered cleric, who described the alleged Christian genocide narrative as deeply troubling, stressed that only bold and coordinated action could restore peace.
“If I were to advise, I would say quietly to our government—move fast, move diplomatically, move wisely. Convince the President of America to delay any planned actions for 100 days and instruct our service chiefs to wipe out these terrorists within 90 days or resign.”
Adeboye recalled that former President Muhammadu Buhari once issued a similar directive but failed to follow through with the order.
“He gave the command but did not ensure compliance. I met him and asked, ‘Why did you not proceed with your threat?’”
The preacher urged Tinubu to extend his directive beyond insurgents to include their sponsors and financiers, no matter how influential.
“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, tell them to eliminate not only the terrorists but also their sponsors,” Adeboye stated.
He cautioned that Nigeria must tread carefully in its diplomatic relations with world powers, warning that no foreign nation would come to its aid in the event of an external conflict.
“If America attacks, China will not defend us; neither will Russia or Britain. They will only issue statements and move on,” he said.
Adeboye, who referred to President Tinubu as “my in-law,” expressed disappointment over what he described as misleading claims in the President’s recent Independence Day speech regarding the nation’s security.
“I almost spoke last month when I heard him say that displaced persons had returned home. Whoever wrote that section doesn’t like him. They are not telling him the truth,” he remarked.
He emphasised that the Tinubu administration inherited longstanding insecurity but must now deliver results, not excuses.
“Our President inherited this problem. But this is not the time for grammar or arguments. Innocent people are dying,” he warned.
Adeboye reminded Nigerians that God’s promise of peace would prevail despite the turbulence. “The wind may be violent, but peace will return to Nigeria,” he declared.
