An unidentified individual reportedly sneaked into the Kano State Government House and made away with a vehicle belonging to the convoy of the state’s deputy governor.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, was said to have taken place around Gate 4 of the Government House complex.
Sources familiar with the situation told reporters that the suspect gained entry through one of the gates before driving off with a Toyota Hilux assigned to the deputy governor’s office.
According to insiders, the vehicle was driven out of the premises without any resistance from security operatives on duty.
CCTV footage within the Government House reportedly captured the intruder’s movement from the time of entry to the point of exit.
It was gathered that the section of the Government House housing the deputy governor’s office is usually under full guard only during official hours or when the deputy governor is around, a gap that may have been exploited by the suspect.
The driver attached to the missing vehicle, identified simply as Shafiu “Sharp-Sharp,” has been invited for questioning by security authorities as investigations continue into the incident.
Police and other security agencies have been alerted, and the state’s surveillance team has begun reviewing the CCTV recordings to trace the movement of the stolen vehicle and identify the culprit.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been released by the Kano State Government or the office of the deputy governor regarding the development.
