Gov Adeleke Showcases Osun’s Investment Appeal as Chinese Delegation Visits Govt House

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, as he hosted a team of multi-sectoral Chinese investors at the Government House, Osogbo, on Thursday evening.

The governor used the visit to showcase Osun’s rising profile in Nigeria’s ease of doing business rankings, declaring the state ready and open for fresh investments, particularly within the Osun Free Trade Zone.

Adeleke, who described Osun as “the state of the living spring,” said his government is deliberately closing infrastructural gaps to strengthen the business environment and attract both local and foreign investors.

“We are fixing our roads, bridges, schools, utilities, health infrastructures among others. We know good infrastructure facilitates business and economic growth. Hence, we are reducing Osun’s infrastructure deficit,” the governor said.

Highlighting key reforms, Adeleke noted that his administration has harmonised and automated tax processes, reducing pressures on businesses while making compliance seamless.

He also disclosed that the government now issues Certificates of Occupancy (CofO) within 48 hours under a fully automated system, which is one of the fastest turnaround times in the country.

“Our ease of doing business rating is very high. You have come to the right place,” he assured the delegation.

He added that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is led by professionals with international exposure who are prepared to give investors every needed support.

Speaking on behalf of Shanghai Fadewei International Trade Company Limited, Dr. Yusuf Fadairo said the team’s interest in Osun was informed by two major reasons: admiration for international music star David Adeleke (Davido), and widespread reports of Governor Adeleke’s performance in office.

Fadairo revealed that Davido enjoys massive popularity in China—“even more than in Nigeria”—a factor that increased Chinese curiosity about Osun State. He added that positive media reports about the governor convinced the company that Osun is a safe and promising investment destination.

He announced that the company is interested in setting up multiple factories within the Osun Free Trade Zone, noting that the team had already inspected the facility.

“We have inspected the zone and we are satisfied with the utilities and facilities. We are set to act once all other regulatory issues are concluded,” he said.

Members of the Shanghai Fadewei delegation included Mr. Zheng Lifa (amusement park construction and operation), Mr. Zhai Yikang (paint production), Mr. Yu Lu (paint production), Mr. Yao Weide (electric tricycle manufacturing), Prince Charles Ajiboye (logistics manager), and Mr. Bamigboye Olabode (company engineer).

The courtesy visit was witnessed by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo; and broadcast entrepreneur, Femi Adefila.
