Court Convicts Nnamdi Kanu on Seven Terrorism Charges, Awaits Sentencing
The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on a seven-count charge of terrorism brought against him by the Federal Government.
Justice James Omotosho, delivering judgment on Thursday, held that Kanu was guilty on all the counts, which include: engaging in acts of terrorism, belonging to and leading a proscribed organisation, threatening and killing security operatives, burning public and private properties, concealment, and importing an unregistered radio transmitter.
Kanu, who is facing one of the most high-profile trials in Nigeria’s recent judicial history, was present in court when the judgment was delivered.
More details are expected as the judgment enters subsequent phases, including sentencing and potential appeals.
