50 Children Abducted From Catholic School In Niger State Have Escaped – CAN
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has announced that 50 of the hundreds of children kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State have successfully escaped from their abductors.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Christian body said the children regained their freedom between Friday and Saturday and have since reunited with their families.
“We have received encouraging news that fifty of the abducted pupils managed to escape and are now safely back with their parents,” CAN disclosed, describing the development as a relief amid the ongoing crisis.
More than 300 children were seized when armed attackers stormed the Catholic institution earlier in the week, sparking nationwide and international concern.
The escape comes as calls intensify for the immediate release of the remaining children, with global religious leaders including the Pope demanding urgent action from authorities and security agencies.
Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
