Adeleke Assents To Startup, Osun Electricity Market bills
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has signed the Osun State Electricity Market Bill and the domesticated Nigerian Startup Act into law as part of efforts to drive innovation and expand the state’s energy sector.
This is just as the Governor announced the approval of the 20-hectare Osun Digital City for startups and digital enterprises.
Speaking shortly after assenting to the two bills in Osogbo on Thursday, the Governor said the moment marked a major step in the state’s push for sustainable development, digital advancement, and private sector–driven growth.
He added that Osun was rapidly emerging as a hub for investment, innovation, and opportunity, stressing that his administration was not only focused on infrastructure development but also on empowering the digital economy and diversifying the energy sector.
According to him, “I warmly welcome everyone to this bill signing ceremony alongside the Osun Tech Hangout, the first of its kind in our dear state. I am glad to assert that Osun is rapidly emerging as a hub for investment, innovation, and opportunity.

“Our administration is not only building roads and bridges; we are delivering on Tech innovation and digital economy empowerment. We are opening up the electricity sector to investment and consumer satisfaction. Osun under our watch is becoming a leader in environmental sustainability, tech innovation, and energy diversification.
“I have approved the 20-hectare Osun Digital City for startups and digital enterprises. The goal is to develop innovation parks and digital hubs.
“These improvements are making government operations faster and more responsive. Osun One, a one-stop shop for all government processes, is transforming service delivery. Security has been strengthened through the 293 AI-powered emergency center, Safe City Initiative, and Security Trust Fund.
“I have signed into law the Osun State Electricity Market bill. This is a landmark step towards subnational management and expansion of the power sector. The Ministry of Energy is directed to set up an implementation mechanism as quickly as possible.
“A similar legal framework has been provided for the empowerment of Tech entrepreneurs within Osun state. Today, I signed into law the Nigerian Startup Act which domesticates the national law. Osun joins one or two other states that have domesticated the law. The implementation will commence in earnest.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, Azeez Badmus, lauded the Governor for creating a thriving environment for startups and innovators through structured support systems
His words, “I want to thank the Governor for building an environment where startups and innovators can thrive. They are supported with guidance, mentorship, and resources to succeed across Osun.”
