Osun Police Nabs 50-year-old Man For Defiling Minor
The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man, Oluwaseun Adewale, for defiling a 12-year-old girl in Ilesa.
The arrest was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on Saturday.
He revealed that the arrest followed a complaint lodged on November 16, 2025, at the Nigeria Police “C” Divisional Headquarters in Ilesa.
The statement reads in part, “The victim’s mother noticed a whitish, slimy substance on her daughter’s underwear while doing laundry and questioned her. The 12-year-old girl then revealed that their neighbour had carnal knowledge of her.
“Upon receiving the report, the Investigating Police Officer promptly took the minor to an approved medical facility for examination. The examination confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted, including forceful penetration.
“The case was further referred to the family and gender unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Osun State. The victim was also taken to a succour centre for ongoing medical care, where she was found to be malnourished.
“Further investigation revealed that the assault on 16th November was not the first incident. The suspect had been defiling the girl repeatedly since July 2025, exploiting the vulnerable situation of the victim’s widowed mother, who has no stable income.
“The suspect reportedly gave the victim two hundred Naira after each assault, money she used to buy food. This exploitation added to the distressing circumstances surrounding the case.”
DSP Ojelabi revealed that Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Gotan condemned the act.
According to Gotan, “We strongly denounce all forms of child abuse, molestation, and exploitation.
“The Police authority urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicion to the nearest police station and relevant authorities without delay. Together we can protect our children and uphold justice.”
