You Should Be Ashamed of Federal Government's Illegalities on Osun LG Funds- Gov. Adeleke's Aide Knocks Oyetola

The Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Legal Matters, Barr Nurudeen Kareem, has flayed the Hon. Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alh. Gboyega Oyetola for his pretence and insincere advocacy of the rule of law and constitutionalism.

According to Barr Kareem, the Minister, as part of the Federal Government which the Supreme Court lampooned on Friday for flagrant disregard for Court Judgment and illegal seizure of Osun Local Government allocations, should be ashamed of the Federal Government’s tyrannical actions which the Apex Court described as a grave constitutional breach

The Minister has, in a statement on the recent Supreme Court judgment on the Osun Councils’ withheld funds signed by his Special Adviser on media, purportedly advocated adherence to the rule of law and suggested that it is the Osun State Government that violates the law.

It would be recalled that the Supreme Court on Friday expressed its profound displeasure with the Federal Government’s utter disregard for the Court judgment on the autonomy of Local Government Councils. The Apex Court in its lead judgment lampooned the Federal Government and described its actions in relation to the seizure of Osun Local Government funds as illegal and grave constitutional infringement.

Barr Kareem noted that it is therefore unconscionable and preposterous for Alh. Gboyega Oyetola, as a current Minister from Osun State and part of the beleaguered Federal Government, to come out and pose as an advocate of the rule of law having watched with relish the arbitrary and illegal withholding of allocations meant for Local Government Councils and the good people of Osun State by the same FG in which he serves.

According to Governor Adeleke’s aide, if Alh. Oyetola has not survived and outlived his conscience, he ought to come out and apologize to the people of Osun State following the judgment of the Supreme Court which faults the Federal Government’s illegal and unconstitutional withholding of Osun Councils’ funds.

“With the Supreme Court judgment on Osun Local Government Councils’ funds confirming the Illegalities and wickedness of the Federal Government to the good and innocent people of Osun State as regards the Councils’ allocation seizure, Alh. Gboyega Oyetola, as a Minister from Osun State sitting in the Federal Executive Council, ought to apologize to the good and innocent people of Osun State who do not deserve the tyranny inflicted on them by the Federal Government”, he noted.

Adeleke’s Adviser also warns the Minister against distorting the Supreme Court judgment and misinforming the people, saying no court judgment has sacked the PDP Local Government Chairmen democratically elected in February, 2025, contrary to the mischievous content of the Minister’s statement. According to Barr Kareem, all the petitions filed against the PDP Local Government Chairmen at the Local Government Election Tribunal were dismissed.

“Besides being part of the tyrannical and lawless Federal Government tormenting the people of Osun State with Osun Local Government allocations seizure, Alh. Oyetola’s name is in the annals of history as the architect of Osun State Local Government crisis as his administration’s patent disregard for law and desperation to conduct local government election after losing his reelection bid as Governor of Osun State in August , 2022 without compliance with the 360 days’ mandatory notice of election, birthed the crisis and plunged Osun State Local Governments into this needless imbroglio”, Barr Kareem added.

Barr Nurudeen Kareem enjoins Alh. Oyetola to place the collective interests of the good people of Osun State above parochial partisan interests. He also charges him as APC leader in the State to tell the so-called APC Chairmen whose sack was affirmed by the Court of Appeal in June, 2025 (without further appeal to the Supreme Court) and whose purported tenure has even lapsed since October, 2025 as confirmed by the Attorney-General of the Federation, to respect and obey Court judgments and stop formenting trouble in the State.

He further admonished the Minister to reflect on his passive or active roles in the FG’s illegal actions against the people of Osun State as a member of the Federal Executive Council from Osun State coupled with the fact that his lack-lustre administration as Governor wilfully planted the crisis, and therefore apologize to the good and innocent people of Osun State.
