Governor Adeleke Launches Statewide Animal Vaccination

The Osun State Government has launched a statewide vaccination exercise against Trans-boundary Animal Diseases, targeting cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry.
Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke, emphasized the importance of animal health for employment, income, and foreign exchange, saying livestock production is crucial for the state’s economy.
The vaccination exercise, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, aims to prevent diseases like Contagious Foot and Mouth Diseases, protect public health, and promote economic growth.
Governor Adeleke highlighted previous interventions, including vaccinations against Anthrax and Rabies, and the distribution of agricultural inputs. He urged livestock farmers to participate, saying their cooperation is key to success.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Otunba Tola Faseeru noted that 70% of human diseases have animal links, stressing the need for holistic disease prevention. He praised the government’s efforts in animal healthcare service delivery through the veterinary services department.
The vaccination exercise is part of Osun State’s efforts to boost food security, economy, and public health.
