The Osun State Government has approved a supplementary list to the first batch of its ongoing 2026 teachers’ recruitment exercise, bringing the total number of successful applicants to 1,241.
This was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday, by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, M. A. K. Jimoh, who said the approval was granted by Governor Ademola Adeleke to accommodate more qualified unemployed youths.
“This development now brings the total number of applicants being employed to 1,241 as against the initial 1,000 mark, to give room for more qualified unemployed youths to be absorbed into the teaching profession, thereby improving learning outcomes in our primary and secondary schools across the state,” the statement read.
A breakdown of the figure shows that 660 candidates were recruited under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 526 under the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), while 55 were engaged as Education Officers.
The government advised successful candidates to check their names on the released lists and proceed with the necessary profiling and documentation at SUBEB, TESCOM and the Civil Service Commission, as applicable.
While congratulating the successful applicants, Jimoh urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
“They are expected to contribute their quota towards the improvement of the education sector in their new roles as teachers and to display professionalism in teaching for better performance and outcomes,” he said.
