APC Under Fire as Osun Accord Questions Wole Oke’s Campaign Role

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its appointment of Wole Oke as Director General of its campaign council, describing the move as a sign of declining credibility within the opposition party.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the Osun State Chairman of Accord, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, said the decision reflects what he described as a lack of credible leadership options in the APC.
He described the appointment as “a tragic comedy that exposes the party’s complete collapse of credibility,” adding that the APC had resorted to presenting a controversial figure to the electorate.
“It is both laughable and disgraceful that a party seeking the trust of the people would anchor its campaign on an individual persistently trailed by allegations of fraud, abuse of office, breach of trust and financial impropriety,” he said.
Akande argued that rather than rebuild its public image, the APC had taken steps that could further erode public trust.
“What the APC has done is to officially adopt fraud and controversy as its campaign ideology.
When a party proudly hands over its campaign to a man many perceive as synonymous with questionable dealings, it tells you everything you need to know about their readiness for governance,” he added.
The Accord chairman also referenced media reports, including publications by Premium Times, which he said contained allegations of financial misconduct involving Oke.
He noted that the reports had not been challenged in court.
He further cited claims by some former aides of the lawmaker, who allegedly accused him of unethical conduct, including forgery and abuse of office, though the allegations have not been independently verified.
Akande described the APC’s decision as a “self-inflicted political disaster,” insisting that voters in Osun State would not be swayed by propaganda.
“Osun voters are not gullible. You cannot repackage what people already know and expect them to forget.
This is not just poor judgment, it is a clear sign that the APC has exhausted both ideas and integrity,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, stating that residents of the state remain supportive of what he described as people oriented governance.
“This latest move by the APC is not just a frustration induced error, it is a confession that they have nothing credible to offer,” Akande said.
