Bowen University, Iwo, has announced the commencement of its recruitment process for three top management positions, calling on qualified Christian professionals (preferably of the Baptist denomination) to apply for the posts of Registrar, University Librarian, and University Chaplain.
The institution, owned by the Nigerian Baptist Convention and reputed as one of the country’s foremost faith-based private universities, made the announcement in a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, B. T. Adetona.
According to the statement, the University seeks candidates with proven visionary leadership, strong communication skills and a commitment to moral and godly values consistent with its founding principles. Applicants, it added, must also be in sound physical and mental health.
Registrar Position
The Registrar, who serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and a Principal Officer of the institution, is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day management of the University Registry. The officer will also serve as Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.
Prospective candidates must hold at least a Second-Class Lower Division in a relevant discipline from a recognised university, a Master’s Degree, and possess not less than 15 years of post-graduation administrative experience in a university or similar institution.
Membership of recognised professional bodies such as ANUPA, CIPM or NIM is mandatory.
Applicants must be between 45 and 60 years old and demonstrate competence in ICT and automated Registry operations.
University Librarian Position
The University Librarian, also a Principal Officer, is expected to provide academic and professional leadership in the management of the University Library system and its branches.
The candidate must possess a good Honours Degree and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science, with at least 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
The statement noted that the ideal candidate must understand the complexity of university operations and be able to drive Bowen towards full virtual library automation.
Membership of recognised bodies such as the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) and certification as a professional librarian are compulsory.
A Doctorate Degree will be an added advantage.
Eligible applicants must be between 45 and 60 years old.
University Chaplain Position
The University Chaplain, also a Principal Officer, will oversee the spiritual welfare of the entire university community and coordinate all chaplaincies, denominational units, reformation ministries, student volunteer activities and related departments.
Applicants must possess at least a Master’s Degree in Theology or its equivalent from an institution recognised by the Nigerian Baptist Convention, with a minimum of 10 years of pastoral experience.
Evidence of involvement with Baptist student fellowships, youth ministries, mission work or discipleship programmes is required.
Candidates aged 40 to 50 years and those with teaching experience or higher theological qualifications will have an added advantage.
Digital proficiency and knowledge of chaplaincy automation are also mandatory.
Terms of Appointment
All three positions come with a single, non-renewable five-year tenure, along with a competitive remuneration package comparable to other private institutions.
Successful candidates will also enjoy fringe benefits, including furnished accommodation, official vehicles and other allowances approved by the Governing Council.

Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications and credentials in PDF format to apply@bowen.edu.ng, following a detailed CV structure that includes personal data, academic qualifications, work experience, professional memberships and, where applicable, scholarly publications and research profiles.
Applicants are also required to submit a 1,000-word Vision and Mission Statement for the Registry, Library or Chaplaincy, depending on the position applied for.
Additionally, candidates must ensure that three referees send confidential reports directly to the specified email address.
The statement further directs applicants to send ten hard copies of their application packages under confidential cover to the Registrar’s Office at Bowen University, Iwo.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview with the Governing Council’s Selection Committee.
