A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state has said that the party has lost focus and its now dwelling on frivolities instead of facing political and governance issue in the state.

The Chieftain added that for a party in opposition who is also hoping to return to the helm of affairs in the state, Osun APC is supposed to address issues that will endear them to the people of the state.

Commenting on a recent statement by Osun APC condemning Governor Adeleke for the issues rocking the Osun State Transportation Management System, the Chieftain who pleaded anonymity noted further that while it is good to call for transparency and accountability, its a complete lost of focus for Osun APC to become the mouthpiece of transport union workers.

The Chieftain further questioned why Osun APC didn’t condemn the violence that erupted in Osogbo the Osun state capital or even called on security operatives to be at alert.

The Chieftain said “There is no doubt now that our party, APC, in Osun has lost focus and that’s the reason our most recent statement is focused on frivolity other than political and governance issues in Osun that will make the people want to vote for us again.

“For me, its okay to call for transparency and accountability but is our party the mouthpiece for transport union workers?

“At no point in the statement did we condemn the violence that broke out, we didn’t even call on security operatives to always be alert. So that puts a question, what exactly is our job as oppositions, is it only to condemn Governor Adeleke that we all can see clearly that as the day goes by he is getting more popular?

“If Transport Union Workers have issues within their leadership structure, why is it APC that is speaking for them? Are we now an extension of transport union workers or they are an extension of our party. That is the problem.

“If we have evidence for the alleged stolen funds, are we not supposed to know what to do as a party in opposition, rather than just focus on frivolities, but like it is said, when the purpose of a thing is unknown, abuse is inevitable. I can only wish the leadership of our party well but we need to have a rethink”.
