A political observer and social commentator, Gbenga Adeoye has said that nobody should rule out, an erstwhile National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Otunba Iyiola Omisore, from the Osun 2026 Gubernatorial Elections.
He added that Omisore remains a force in Osun politics and particularly the APC since the conversion of several SDP members who followed him to the APC.
In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, Adeoye stressed further that it is impossible to assume that Omisore is still not interested in becoming Osun Governor considering the event that unfolded in Osun in 2018 that led him to join APC eventually.
He however noted that is it unclear if Omisore would want to be Governor or will looking at installing one of his trusted allies as Governor while insisting that Omisore is a force within the APC and as well as in Osun politics.
“Osun 2026 Governorship Election will be full of surprises because we don’t know who are people that will be interested in contesting in all of the parties, however nobody should rule of Otunba Iyiola Omisore from this conversation.
“Omisore remains a force in Osun APC and even in Osun politics, you will agree with me if you remember how events unfolded in 2018 before he eventually decamped in to APC with his followers, some even getting appointment in the immediate past administration.
“It is impossible to assume that Omisore is still not interested in becoming Osun Governor, it is right if he wants to contest.
“What is not clear is if Omisore would still want to become Governor or he would be looking forward to install one of best allies or protege as Governor”, Adeoye said.
Speaking further on the 2026 Osun Governorship Election, Adeoye maintained that the toughest phase of the election would the primaries of both the APC and PDP adding that, it might be impossible for any aspirant to defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke to the PDP ticket.
He said, “the toughest phase of the 2026 Osun Governorship election will the primaries, especially that of the APC, for the PDP, considering the level of impact of Governor Adeleke, it might be hard to take the ticket from him.
“But in the APC, I insist that Omisore is a force. We can not predict the joker he might be planning to pull, so nobody should underrate him.”
