• Says Ruling Party is Ready to Welcome More Members
The ruling party in Osun State, the People’s Democratic Party has acknowledged the survey report of the Obafemi Awolowo University affiliated polling agency, the Democracy Polling Agency that says “PDP membership has increased more than 50 percent in 2024” but disputed the claim of a noticeable rift between old and new members.
Reacting to the report, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Sunday Bisi commended the report that described the impressive performance of Mr Performer, Governor Ademola Adeleke as a focal point of attraction bringing new members across all parties most especially from the embattled faction of the former governor, Ilerioluwa group.
“Let it be clearly stated that the influx of APC members into the PDP since the beginning of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration particularly this year has been both unprecedented and inspiring, as it further strengthens our resolve and commitment to deliver quality governance and represents the people’s will effectively.
“The report actually reflected the increasing depletion of the rank of opposition APC. Almost every week, our local chapters request my attendance to receive decampees. I have personally attended more than 20 of such decamping events”, the party chief noted.
He, however, clarified that there is no discord amongst old.and incoming members., noting that “ the leadership has a fool proof management system that integrate new members with rights and privileges
“The PDP remains a unified, well-organized body without management crises at any level within our 30 local government areas. We are proud of the smooth integration of both our longstanding members and recent entrants, who are actively collaborating and upholding the values that define the PDP. Our focus remains solely on fostering an inclusive, vibrant, and impactful party that works for the benefit of all Osun people.
“We assure the public and our members that the PDP is fully prepared to accommodate even more members who wish to join us in building a stronger and more prosperous state. The doors of our party remain open to all who share our commitment to progress, unity, and good governance.
“The PDP is more energized than ever to serve as the leading voice for sustainable development and positive change in Osun and Nigeria as a whole. We will continue to welcome like-minded individuals who seek to make a meaningful impact in the lives of fellow citizens in Osun into the PDP, he concluded.
The survey report had posited that the state APC, especially the Ileri Oluwa group has lost 45 percent of its membership to the state PDP in the last three months.
