APC Now Poses Political Threat To Me In Rivers State – Wike Declares

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has admitted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has become a major political threat to him in Rivers State.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, the former Rivers State governor expressed concern over the unprecedented level of federal appointments secured by the state under the APC-led administration.

He said those developments have made his position as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) more challenging.

Wike said: “I have a problem as a member of PDP, you know why? What is going on now, I have never seen the level of empowerment of any state than Rivers State in terms of political appointments. It’s a problem for me as a member of PDP.

“Since the history of Rivers State, be it military or civilian, we have never had that kind of political appointments at the Federal level, never. So it’s a threat.”

The FCT Minister noted that the massive federal presence and political empowerment for Rivers indigenes have given the APC a strong foothold in the state, making it harder for him and his allies to counter the ruling party’s influence.

“Even when you are preaching, the people will ask you what are you preaching?” Wike lamented.
