Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, on yesterday, Friday, September 12, 2025 drew the curtain on the recent rift within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency.
He declared that the storm that rocked the party had been laid to rest.
Speaking after hosting a peace parley at his Ile-Ife residence, Adewusi said party stakeholders had resolved to bury their grievances and close ranks in the interest of unity and progress.
“We have forgotten the past and turned a new leaf. PDP is one; there is no division. Even the tongue and mouth disagree sometimes, but today everything has been resolved. It’s a storm in a teacup,” the deputy governor told journalists.
He explained that the reconciliation was endorsed by the senatorial leadership and critical stakeholders.
He also described it as a victory over forces seeking to divide the party.
“The Devil wanted to play his game, but we won’t allow him,” Adewusi added.
The deputy governor, who has been at the centre of the storm, had been among those accused of anti-party activities in a communiqué signed by 39 leaders on September 1. Alongside former PDP National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, and Ife East PDP Chairman, Olasunkanmi Makinde, Adewusi was accused of associating with a former federal lawmaker, Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
But Adewusi insisted yesterday that the chapter was now closed, stressing that the focus must return to strengthening the party for future elections.
“I thank Governor Ademola Adeleke for his timely intervention and for providing the needed leadership to bring us back together as one family. His role as a peace-builder cannot be overemphasised,” the deputy governor said.
Also present at the meeting were top party figures including Osun East Central District PDP leader, Olayiwola Famuyide, who praised Adewusi for his reconciliatory stance, while lauding Adeleke for midwifing the process.
In a separate gathering attended by Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi, Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, and Commissioners’ Forum Chairman, Ganiyu Olaoluwa, Governor Adeleke noted that the crisis largely arose from communication gaps and urged leaders to sustain the new spirit of unity.
