The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has explained the reason behind the postponement of its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, earlier scheduled to hold tomorrow, Wednesday, October 15.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the decision to shift the high-level meeting was reached after an emergency session of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday in Abuja.
Ologunagba stated that the NWC deemed it necessary to defer the meeting following certain developments within the party which, he noted, required adequate consultation and internal review before convening the NEC.
“The postponement was a collective decision of the National Working Committee made in the exercise of its constitutional powers under Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017),” the statement read in part.
He added that a new date for the 103rd NEC meeting will be announced to members and relevant stakeholders in due course, urging all concerned to take note of the adjustment and await further communication.
“The leadership of our great party remains committed to due process, internal democracy, and inclusive decision-making,” Ologunagba added.
The PDP last held its 102nd NEC meeting in August, where crucial matters relating to party reorganization and upcoming political activities were deliberated.
