Osun PDP Dismisses Fake Report on Suspension of Party Activities

The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted reports circulating on social media alleging that the party has suspended all political and organizational meetings across the state due to a purported national crisis.

In a statement issued by the party on Saturday, the Osun PDP described the publication as “false, mischievous, and the handiwork of desperate opposition elements”, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), which it accused of fabricating lies to mislead the public.

The party clarified that the said statement, which was deceitfully credited to its State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jacob Ayodeji Areola, did not originate from the PDP and should be disregarded by members and the general public.

The statement read, “the said publication is nothing but a fabrication from the desperate imagination of the jittery and rejected opposition in Osun State. It is a baseless attempt to sow confusion into the minds of the resolute people of Osun State.”

The PDP maintained that its structures remain intact, vibrant, and fully committed to supporting the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State and leader of the party.

It reaffirmed that no meeting or political activity has been suspended in the state, adding that party operations at all levels are ongoing and geared towards ensuring Governor Adeleke’s re-election in August 2026.

The party also vowed to bring to book those behind the fake release, disclosing that its legal and security teams have begun investigations to uncover the source of the impersonation.

“We wish to assure the general public that the criminal impersonator behind this malicious act will be fished out and made to face the full weight of the law,” the statement added.

The Osun PDP said the opposition’s frustration is evident in its resort to spreading falsehoods to stay relevant.

“The PDP in Osun remains strong, focused, and united in its resolve to continue delivering good governance and sustainable development to the people of the state under the dynamic leadership of Governor Adeleke,” the statement concluded.
