The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as the winner of the Anambra State governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Florence Obi, announced Soludo’s victory in the early hours of Wednesday at the INEC headquarters in Awka, after the conclusion of collation from the 21 local government areas of the state.
Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), polled a total of 112,229 votes, defeating his closest rivals—Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 53,807 votes, and Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 43,285 votes.
Prof. Obi said the APGA candidate satisfied all requirements of the law and secured the highest number of valid votes cast, thereby declaring him duly elected.
