The Chief Medical Director of Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, has categorically denied allegations that the hospital is a “death trap” where patients die at will.

Speaking on Fresh FM radio monitored in Osogbo, Dr. Afolabi while addressing the public perception said the hospital’s healthcare practitioners are competent, professional and dedicated to providing the best possible care to patients.

Dr. Afolabi attributed some of the challenges faced by the hospital to patients’ seeking unprofessional healthcare services before bringing them to the hospital, often with worsened conditions. Despite these challenges, the hospital strives to revive and care for such patients.

The CMD highlighted the hospital’s rebranding efforts, emphasizing that patients no longer need connections to access medical care. “Patients can simply walk in and receive treatment,” he said.

Dr. Afolabi acknowledged financing and equipment maintenance as significant challenges but expressed gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his all time support.

He then appealed to the public to partner with the hospital, noting that philanthropists have already contributed to its smooth operation.

In his six-month tenure as CMD, Dr. Afolabi showcases notable achievements, attributing success to Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership and support.

The CMD invited the public to bring patients to the teaching hospital instead of patronizing clinics that might worsen their conditions. With the hospital’s commitment to care and support from stakeholders, Dr. Afolabi is optimistic about improved healthcare delivery in Osun State.
