
The representative of the South West on the Board of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Hon. Sunday Adepoju has commended the Management of the University of Ilesa for adequately utilizing the fund allocated to the institution by TETFund.
Hon. Sunday Adepoju expressed this commendation during a visit of his team to the University for an on the spot assessment of TETFUND sponsored projects and how they can assist the institution to attract more funding to bridge infrastructure and academic gaps in the higher institutions of learning.
During the visit, Hon. Adepoju commissioned two significant projects, the newly renovated Career Service Centre and the newly constructed School of Languages Building.
The Career Service Centre is one of the projects listed under the 2024 TETFund Intervention. The School of Languages Building on the other hand was constructed under the 2022 TETFund Intervention and will provide a conducive environment for students to explore their linguistics interests.
During a brief reception held in the team’s honour, the South West Representative noted that the University of Ilesa has been making strides in its development, as the new projects were expected to further boost the institution’s reputation, noting that with focus on innovation and research, the University is poised to become a hub for academic excellence in the region.
Hon. Sunday Adepoju however promised his readiness to push the Unilesa narrative on the Board to attract more funding to bridge both infrastructure and academic gaps.
While welcoming the team, the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, Ph.D, FCA, imagined a world without TETFUND, highlighting the Fund’s critical role in uplifting academic and infrastructure standards.
Represented by a Council Member and Director Continuing Education of the University, Dr. O. O. Aduroja, Prof. Asaolu assured the team of the University’s transparency and accountability in utilising TETFUND interventions, emphasising that the University has judiciously and effectively utilized the interventions and was ready to open its books for scrutiny.
Present at the reception was the South West Coordinator of the Fund, Engr. (Dr.) Taiwo Lukman, Principal Officers and Management Staff of the University of Ilesa.
