Security operatives in Osun State have arrested six individuals suspected to be cult members in connection with the shooting of two students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The suspects were reportedly involved in a violent clash on campus which left the two students injured.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said officers from the Anti-Cultism Unit, while on routine patrol in Iree, received intelligence about the activities of some suspected cultists.
According to him, the suspects, alleged to belong to different confraternities including the Buccaneers, had stormed the institution and engaged in violent activities before the intervention of security operatives.
The Police spokesperson assured that investigations are ongoing and that those found culpable would face the full wrath of the law.
