The Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State chapter, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, has declared that the union’s indefinite strike will continue until its outstanding demands are met.
Adeniran, in a statement issued after the union’s Congress on Thursday, said the massive turnout of members at the meeting reflected their unity, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the struggle.
He accused the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Adepele Ojo, who also chairs the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), of refusing to grant the union an audience for more than 17 months despite repeated requests and written correspondence.
“Our strike remains indefinite. We have made several attempts to secure a meeting with Her Lordship to resolve the issues affecting our members, but all have proved abortive,” he said.
The JUSUN boss listed outstanding promotions and welfare-related matters as part of the union’s grievances.
He added that only the Judicial Service Commission under Justice Ojo’s leadership has the authority to address them.
He also dismissed rumours suggesting that the strike had been downgraded to a three-day warning action, describing such reports as “false, baseless, and intended to weaken the union’s resolve.”
“Our demands are genuine, lawful, and justified. Osun judiciary workers will not be deterred. We remain firm, united, and committed to seeing this struggle through. Aluta continua, victoria asata,” Adeniran added.
The industrial action has grounded court activities across Osun State, leaving litigants, lawyers, and other stakeholders stranded as the standoff between JUSUN and the Chief Judge lingers.
