The Joint Labour Movement in Osun State has taken a hard stance against the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a recent verbal attack on the Chairperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade (Dr.) Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo.
This was contained in statement issued on Thursday by the coalition.
The Movement which comprising the NLC, the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) described the attack as an affront to the fundamental rights and liberties of trade unions in the state.
The group said the incident was another demonstration of what it called the “tyrannical tendencies” of the APC in Osun, warning that such actions undermine the principles of social justice and the dignity of workers.
“The labour movement is a vital pillar of our democracy and must be allowed to function without fear of harassment or intimidation,” the statement read in part.
The coalition vowed not to tolerate any assault on its leadership, workers, or pensioners, insisting it remains committed to defending the rights and welfare of Osun workers.
“Our struggle for workers’ rights and social justice will not be deterred by acts of tyranny. Together, we shall prevail in our pursuit of a just and equitable society, where the rights and dignity of all workers and pensioners are upheld and protected,” the movement added.
