“No Amount Of Attacks From Selfish Politicians Can Derail Adeleke’s Re-election,” IDA Berates Ogundokun

The Iwo Development Alliance has taken a swipe at elder statesman Chief Abiola Ogundokun over his recent attacks on Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

The group said that residents of Iwo and the entire state remain solidly behind the governor ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In a statement issued in Iwo on Saturday, the President of the group, Adewale Ogunsola, accused Ogundokun of attempting to undermine a governor who, he said, had delivered unprecedented development to the ancient town within a short period.

Ogunsola said it was “disheartening” that Ogundokun, whom he described as a politician without a record of tangible contributions to Iwo’s progress, would publicly fault an administration that had prioritised the community in its development agenda.

He said the ongoing dualisation of the Iwo township road, which is described as the first of its kind in the town’s history, was only one of several projects that had transformed the area since Adeleke assumed office.

According to the group, the Adeleke administration has, in under three years, constructed six roads within Iwo, rehabilitated the moribund Iwo waterworks, established 20 primary healthcare centres, and facilitated the installation of multiple boreholes across communities.

It added that the reconstruction of the Iwo–Ejigbo road was in progress, while three contractors had been mobilised for the Iwo–Osogbo road project, with completion expected before the next election cycle.

Ogunsola said rather than acknowledge these strides, Ogundokun had chosen to “play anti-development politics at a time the town is witnessing visible transformation under the reign of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi.”

The group further dismissed suggestions that Governor Adeleke was engaged in political alliances ahead of 2026, saying his only alignment was “with God and the people of Osun State.”

“No amount of attacks from selfish politicians can derail the governor’s re-election,” the statement read.

The IDA apologised to Adeleke over what it termed the “embarrassing conduct” of Ogundokun and urged the governor not to relent in his support for Iwoland and its traditional institution.
