The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has placed Nigerian entertainer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, on its watchlist after he failed to honour an official summons.

The agency’s Director of Legal and Prosecution, Ijeoma Mary Amugo, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

She explained that the rapper has not responded to repeated invitations issued by NAPTIP over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, cyberstalking and an online claim involving sexual activity with a minor.

Speed Darlington was first declared wanted on June 27, 2025, following the allegations.

Rather than appear before investigators, NAPTIP said the musician took to social media, accusing the agency of violating his rights and declaring he would not comply with their invitation.

Amugo revealed that efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful, as the agency believes he is currently outside Nigeria.

According to her, “He attempted to pre-empt our investigation by going online to make claims that he would not honour our invitation. We made several attempts to find him physically, because a suspect must be located before a case can move forward.”

She added that with his whereabouts uncertain, NAPTIP has now officially placed him on a watchlist. “From our latest information, he is outside the country. He has been placed on a watchlist, and whenever he returns to Nigeria, the investigation will resume immediately.”

Speed Darlington had earlier filed a lawsuit against NAPTIP over the matter.
