Rt. Hon. Najeem Folasayo Salam, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly has reportedly clinched the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 elections.

The development was first revealed by Redio Afinju, an Osun-based private radio station, in a Facebook update on Saturday.

According to insider sources familiar with the process, the former Speaker emerged victorious in a tightly controlled primary conducted by the party’s Apex Committee. Salam is said to have defeated two prominent contenders in the race, former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, and former Osun West Senator, Adelere Oriolowo.

In the final tally, Salam secured 11 votes, while Adeoti scored 3 votes and Oriolowo managed 1 vote.

Although the party leadership has yet to release an official statement, the reported outcome signals a major political comeback for Salam, who served as Speaker between 2011 and 2019 and remains an influential figure in Osun politics.

More details are expected as the ADC prepares to formally unveil its candidate.
