Ede Branch Great Ife Alumni Mourns Prof Oyeweso

The Ede Branch of Great Ife Alumni has mourned the demise of Professor Siyan Oyeweso, a member of the association and Pro Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the branch Great Barrister Olatunde Bello, and Secretary, Great QS Gbenga Akanfe and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
The association noted that Prof Oyeweso was a man vision whose tireless contributions to the growth and development of the institutions, his community, and beyond, will forever be remembered.
The statement reads, “The Great Ife Alumni Association, Ede Branch, is deeply saddened by the passing of one of our Pillars, Prof. AbdulGafar Siyan Oyeweso, who departed this life on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025.
“A distinguished son of Ede and a proud alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Oyeweso served with excellence as Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the University’s Governing Council, Provost of the Postgraduate College, Osun State University, and Executive Director of the Center for Black Culture.
“His tireless contributions to the growth and development of our beloved institutions, his community, and beyond, will forever be remembered. He was a man of great vision, a dedicated academic, and a generous philanthropist.
“As a strong pillar of our Ede Branch, he inspired us with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering commitment to excellence. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of Great Ife alumni.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. May his soul rest in peace.
“Adieu, Prof. Oyeweso. Your impact will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.”
