Osun NBA Seeks Governor Adeleke’s Intervention as Judiciary Shutdown Drags On
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Branches in Osun State has appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to intervene in the prolonged strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).
In a communique signed by the chairmen of the five NBA branches in Osun State, the lawyers acknowledged the Governor’s constitutional responsibility as the state’s Chief Executive and urged his timely intervention to restore normal judicial operations.
They explained that the JUSUN strike, which began on September 22, 2025, has crippled the administration of justice, leaving courts locked, litigants stranded and legal activities completely grounded.
The NBA leadership disclosed that several efforts had been made to resolve the impasse through engagements with JUSUN, the Chief Judge and the Attorney-General.
In his words, “Your Excellency to forthwith start and continue to attend, and participate fully in all JSC meetings convened by the Honourable Chief Judge, so that all outstanding issues can be appropriately and timeously addressed by the Osun State Judicial Service Commission.
“Ensure that the Judicial Service Commission resumes full operations forthwith, in accordance with the Constitution and the relevant statutes governing its mandate.
“Your Excellency’s swift and decisive intervention at this critical moment will not only reaffirm your commitment to justice, peace, and good governance, it will also safeguard the rule of law, good governance and stability in Osun State.
“We trust in your leadership, statesmanship, and constitutional responsibility to act urgently in the best interest of all the good people of Osun State.”
The lawyers however, expressed confidence in Governor Adeleke’s leadership and commitment to the rule of law, urging him to use his executive authority to ensure that the JSC resumes full operations and that JUSUN’s legitimate grievances are addressed through a structured and time-bound process.
