The Imole Accord Vanguard (IMAV) has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun state, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, to perish the thought of giving the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, a second term in office through him, warning that Osun people will not be deceived into rewarding Oyetola’s failure through him.

In a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Hon. Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, the IMAV recalled that Osun people overwhelmingly rejected Oyetola at the poll in the 2022 governorship election owing to the pronounced misgovernance that characterized his administration and are ready to reject any attempt to bring him back through a proxy in Oyebamiji.

Hon. Oladele said Osun people are politically conscious and could clearly read between the lines that Oyebamiji is nothing but a proxy for Oyetola to smuggle himself to Abeere, noting that the memories of the pains and anguish Osun people suffered under Oyetola administration still lingers and that no amount of tricks will make the people reward those who hurt them in the past with their votes.

“When one of the disqualified aspirants in the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore openly acknowledged Mr. Bola Oyebamiji to be a lackey of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the expectation was that he would dismiss that tag and show himself to be a man of himself. Alas, Senator Omisore was right if events since Oyebamiji was foisted as his party’s candidate is anything to go by,” Hon. Oladele noted.

“Aside insinuations that Oyebamiji is held back in Abuja and reduced to mere figurine, which needs to be teleguided, pictures of him presenting his APC certificate of return to Oyetola on the internet confirmed the obvious. Osun is making so much progress at the moment and doesn’t need a lackey to disrupt things.”

Hon. Oladele warned that the unfolding scenario mirrors the Rivers State experience and that Osun state cannot afford to go that route as the implications will be too devastating on the people, maintaining the resolve of Osun people to stick by the current progress under Governor Adeleke and not return to the past of misery that Oyebamiji’s proxy run advances.

“In Rivers State, the whole world saw what become of a similar stunt that the Osun APC is working towards. Osun needs a Governor that can make decisions without having to resort to a godfather, whose time in the same office was marked by failures of unmeasured proportion,” he stressed.

“If Oyetola wants to be Governor again, he should be bold enough to face the people and ask them. Presenting Oyebamiji as a fresh face just to bypass the furry of voters is even an insult on Osun because he is an integral part of the horrible past that was rejected just some three years ago.”

The IMAV urged Osun people to be alert and continue to give their support for the re-election of Governor Adeleke, pointing out that that is the only way to guarantee the sustained development and better welfare that Osun and its people are currently enjoying.
