Adeleke Unveils Upgraded Five-Point Agenda Ahead of Osun 2026 Governorship Campaign

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

Governor of Ademola Adeleke has unveiled an upgraded Five-Point Agenda that will serve as the foundation of his re-election campaign ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

The governor made the announcement on Tuesday while receiving members of the Ansar‑Ud‑Deen Society of Nigeria who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Osogbo.

Adeleke said the visit coincided with the official commencement of political campaigns for the forthcoming governorship election, stressing the need for prayers and support to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.

“Today marks the starting point of campaigning for the August 15, 2026 governorship election. We need your prayers and support for a free and fair election through which the will of the people will prevail,” the governor said.He explained that the reloaded agenda would guide his campaign and governance if re-elected.

According to him, the focus areas include integrated youth, women and workers’ welfare and empowerment, infrastructure consolidation for social and economic wellbeing, agro-industrial expansion for human development and prosperity, affordable and qualitative health and education access, and improved business environment for job creation.

The governor said the new agenda builds on the five-point programme introduced when he assumed office in 2022, maintaining that his administration has largely fulfilled its campaign promises.“I can assert without hesitation that we have delivered on our electoral promises to the people of Osun,” he said.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Adeleke cited the empowerment of cooperative societies with nearly N4 billion, payment of inherited salary and pension arrears, rehabilitation of schools and health facilities, and the construction of over 350 kilometres of roads across the state. He also noted progress in agriculture through distribution of cocoa seedlings and tractors to farmers, expansion of rural development projects, digitalisation of tax collection, and reduction of the state’s debt stock by more than 40 per cent.

Other accomplishments, according to him, include the revival of waterworks across the state, construction of flyover bridges and township roads, implementation of the best nationally rated minimum wage structure for workers in the state, and improvement in education performance rankings.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to due process and inclusive governance, pledging to sustain policies that promote transparency, equitable infrastructure distribution and people oriented development.

“My promise to Osun people is that now and when we are re-elected, we will continue to run an inclusive, forward-looking and world class government for the good of our people,” he added.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hon. Justice. Aiswaju, Moshood Adeigbe, commended the governor for infrastructure development across parts of the state, particularly road projects in Iwo and surrounding communities.Adeigbe said the projects were already boosting economic activities in the area and assured the governor of the society’s support.

“We are here to appreciate your good work and everything you are doing. We like what we are seeing and we want it to continue.

Ansar-Ud-Deen is giving you our full support,” he said.He also informed the governor that the society had secured a new site for the construction of a three-storey mosque and appealed for government support towards the project.

In response, Adeleke welcomed the initiative and directed the Commissioner for Home Affairs to engage with the society on possible collaboration to ensure the successful execution of the mosque project.
