“We Have No Problem with President Tinubu,” Says Governor Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that his administration has no rift with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming his support for the President’s re-election in 2027.
Adeleke made the remarks while addressing members of the State Executive Council, special advisers and other top government functionaries at the Government House in Osogbo.
“We have no problem with President Tinubu. He is our leader. He represents the South-West. I restate our endorsement of Mr President for re-election in the best interest of the South-West,” the governor said.
He, however, accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, of being responsible for the lingering crisis in the state’s local government system, maintaining that the President should not be blamed for the situation.
“Our problem is with Minister Oyetola who has not gotten over his loss of 2022. We hold Mr Oyetola accountable for the local government crisis rather than the President. Osun people also hold the same view,” he said.
The governor also thanked residents of the state for their growing support for the Accord Party, noting that the party has continued to gain ground since his defection.
“I appreciate Osun people for their mass embrace of Accord since I joined the party. Osun has become yellow and this is even spreading outside Osun borders.
Our local chapters are running a weekly walk to live which is attracting thousands of participants,” he added.
Adeleke assured the people of sustained delivery of democratic dividends, with renewed focus on key segments of the population.
“I assure Osun people of more delivery of democratic dividends. Our excellent performance so far will be redoubled when we get re-elected. In our new upgraded agenda, we are refocusing attention on youth, women and workers,” he said.
He added that his administration would build on its achievements in infrastructure while placing greater emphasis on agro-industrialisation, education and healthcare delivery.
“We are consolidating on our gains in the infrastructure sector while we dwell more on agro-industrialisation and enhanced access to qualitative education and health services. We are set to triple our good job on good governance and delivery of democratic dividends,” the governor said.
Adeleke also directed party members and government officials to strengthen the party’s structures across the state through membership registration and grassroots mobilisation in all 332 wards.
“Go out and build on the popularity of Accord since we came on board. Solidify our hold on the grassroots. Flaunt our record of achievements across the local governments and get set for open campaign for victory on August 15,” he said.
Those at the meeting included the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun; Accord State Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande; Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi; Commissioners, Special Advisers, Elected Council Chairmen, and other party members and government officials.
